CALL CENTER SCREENING IN LUCENA CITY A HIT

More than seventy (70) college graduates who are currently seeking for jobs attended the 4-day call center agents screening last October 27, 28 and 29 at the Alec Learning Center Upland Institute at Lucena City and on October 30 at the Max’s Restaurant in Isabang, Tayabas, Quezon.  It was conducted by the American Institute for English Proficiency thru its Operations Manager, Mr. Paulo Magbuhos and General Manager, Mr. Chris de la Cruz.  Of the applicants who came, thirty (30) have already passed.  This number will increase with another screening scheduled on November 4, 2010 at the 3rd floor of J Marketing at Merchan Street, Lucena City.

The positive turn out of applicants was propelled by the announcements over the radio stations, flyers and streamers arranged by the Office of Congressman Irvin M. Alcala to help our job seekers and spare them from incurring expenses for transportation and food while in Manila.

The filtration process as the screening is called is aimed to determine if an applicant can speak English well with the proper pronunciation of words and the of use correct grammar.  Speech ability is must for a call center agent.  These skills are of course expected from our college graduates.

The screening activity is just an initial step.  After passing the screening, an applicant will enjoy a scholarship in a particular training on November 8 to 19, 2010 called Finishing Course for Call Center Agents set up by Congressman Irvin M. Alcala of the 2nd Congressional District of Quezon Province in cooperation with TESDA.  The course will hone the speech ability of a scholar.

On November 20, 2010, call center companies like Convergys, Teletech, IBM and other companies the office of Congressman Irvin is trying to invite, will conduct their own interviews for hiring where at least 60% the graduates are expected to be hired.

Being a call center agent is the most in job nowadays among the fresh college graduates and even older ones with jobs they feel do not pay them well.  With a starting salary of around twenty thousand pesos, it surely is a hit among the job-seekers.
