Students from the 2nd district do not shy away from competitions. Just last April nine (9) to thirteen (13), two (2) high school students represented the province and the whole Region 4A in the 4th Sining Pambansa held in Iloilo City. Through the initiative and assistance of Cong. Irvin M. Alcala, the said students were able to showcase the talents of the Quezon youth when it comes to the field of arts and music.
Senior high school students Christian Verano and Jon Carlo Pagtalunan, hailing from Callejon Nationa High School, put their hearts into creating original music in the Original Pilipino Music song writing competition. As part of the convention’s theme “Celebrating Unity Amidst Cultural Diversity,” students were encouraged to share their own original compositions to other participants in hopes of strengthening cultural bonds thru music.
Cong. Alcala saw an opportunity to introduce the talents of the region in arts and music. This goes to show the diverse treasures of the province, specifically the youth.
Both students got the chance to mingle with other 22 students from other parts of the country in one tune and harmonious rhythm. More importantly, the students were able to participate in workshops that hone their talents to help turn them into skills.
The duo rendered an original composition, inked with their own wordings and given life with their own melodies. Indeed, the Quezon youth excel in other fields as they are top-notch assets to the academe.
Sining Pambansa was organized by the Department of Education to expose the students in various aspects of cultural appreciation and education. Notable guests present during the event were DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro, Asec. Umali and Mr. Ryan Cayabyab.
Exposing the brilliance of Quezon’s youth is a proud and honourable statement. Sharing it to others serve as a reminder to the riches of the province: diverse, dynamic and influential. Indeed, Quezon’s youth is something to be treasured and be proud of.
