The first ever Fun Ride was an outstanding success.
Cong. Irvin M. Alcala and the Lucena Bikers and Adventures Club (LUBAC) brainchild project helped pump 900 riders into dirt roads and asphalt tracks in aims of helping the project’s beneficiary school. The Lutucan National High School Bignay 2 Extension was awarded with 2 complete computer sets for the use of its students during the program of the said fun ride.
May 20, 2012 stood witness to a sunny day when hundreds of cyclists rode through 30 kilometers of dirt, concrete and asphalt. Leaving only trails of cheers as every rider passed through the finish line of the event. Different bike clubs, adventurers at heart and serious riders and amateurs rode wheel to wheel for a cause. The beneficiary school is sure to use the donated computer sets for better learning of its students.
Sikad Para sa Edukasyon was mainly a fun project to meld two interests into a meaningful one. The physical improvement brought by riding was paired with social responsibility. The fun ride not only benefitted the riders in their roadwork but also the students of Bignay NHS. Indeed, leisure and significant steps in helping the deserving can also meld.
With the success of the fun ride, not only will riders have something challenging to look forward to, they will also be looking at another way to help others in their active riding lifestyle. Public service is not limited to a specific means, it comes in all shapes and sizes and even on two wheels.
